“Today, Indo-Canadians and Indians around the world are celebrating the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. 

“I want to recognize the special relationship between Canada and India built on a mutual commitment to democracy, pluralism, and human rights. We also enjoy a strong trading partnership, which has created jobs and business opportunities for the mutual benefit of our two countries.

“Canada is home to over one million Indo-Canadians who have for generations contributed tremendously to our country’s success and prosperity.

“On behalf of Canada’s Conservatives, I extend my best wishes to everyone celebrating India’s Independence Day.”
