Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Erin O’Toole, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives, released the following statement on Pakistan’s Independence Day:

“Today, I extend my best wishes to everyone celebrating the anniversary of Pakistan’s independence.

“Canada is home to a vibrant and growing Pakistani community that continues to enrich and strengthen Canadian life. More than 200,000 Canadians of Pakistani ancestry live and work in Canada, making significant contributions in communities across the country.

“Since establishing diplomatic relations with Pakistan in 1947, Canada continues to strengthen ties on areas of mutual cooperation, including trade and investment, education, and regional security. I look forward to continuing to advance these and other important priorities between our two countries.

“On behalf of the Conservative Party of Canada, I would like to wish all those celebrating a Happy Independence Day!”
