Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole responds to Pfizer vaccine labelling changes in Canada

OTTAWA, ON – The Hon. Erin O’Toole, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives and the Official Opposition, issued the following statement on the Liberal government’s decision to approve the Pfizer label change from five to six doses per vaccine vial:

“Let me be clear, I want the government to succeed in getting vaccines to Canadians, but today’s announcement means that the Liberal government is allowing Pfizer to send fewer vials of vaccines to Canada.

“Mandating that the provinces do more with less means healthcare workers will need to retrain and change tack in the middle of a pandemic. The Liberals must also be clear with Canadians about whether Pfizer will replace any lost doses if the provinces are unable to extract the sixth dose.

“We know that we need vaccines to round the corner of this pandemic and to secure our future, but Justin Trudeau and the Liberals continue to let Canadians down. The Trudeau Liberals are always a step behind.

“Without vaccines, there is no recovery. Today’s announcement by the Liberal government does nothing to ensure Canadians have faster access to vaccines so we can rebuild our economy and get Canadians back to work.”
