Trudeau misses jobs target for second month

Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Erin O’Toole, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives and the Official Opposition, issued the following statement on the release of July job numbers:

“Justin Trudeau has missed his job creation target for the second month in a row, falling nearly a quarter of a million jobs short of what he promised Canadians.

“While countries around the world are creating jobs and growing their economies, Canada is falling further and further behind. Not only does Canada have the second-highest unemployment in the G7, but the July job numbers are half of what experts expected.

“This is just more evidence that Justin Trudeau’s plan is killing job creation and stopping Canada’s recovery before it even begins. That’s why our country needs Canada’s Recovery Plan, our plan that will secure jobs, grow the economy, and result in higher wages for Canadians.

“With the Liberals, NDP, and Greens all supporting risky economic plans, you only have one choice to secure jobs and Canada’s economic future: Canada’s Conservatives.”
