Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Erin O’Toole, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives and the Official Opposition, issued a statement after the Speaker of the House reprimanded a civil servant used as a scapegoat by the Trudeau Liberals who refused to release secret documents revealing what happened at the Winnipeg National Microbiology Laboratory:

“Last week, Canada’s Conservatives were successful in ordering the Trudeau government to turn over documents regarding the transfer of dangerous viruses from the Winnipeg National Microbiology Laboratory to the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the subsequent firing of two government scientists. Today, they refused that order and made it clear that they would continue the cover-up of a possible national security breach.

“Justin Trudeau’s decision to cover up a possible national security breach should concern every Canadian. We expected Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to comply with these orders, but once again, he let Canadians down.

“Until the documents are released, Canada’s Conservatives will continue to demand answers and hold Justin Trudeau to account when it comes to protecting our national security.

“More scandals. More corruption. More cover-ups. That is what Canadians can expect from Justin Trudeau and the Liberals. There is only one choice to end the corruption in Ottawa and introduce the toughest accountability and transparency laws, and that is Canada’s Conservatives.”
