Trudeau Forces Everyone In Newfoundland And Labrador To Pay More At The Pump

Ottawa, ON – After eight years of Justin Trudeau, life has never been more unaffordable in Newfoundland and Labrador. Food bank visits have skyrocketed across the province and people are having to choose between filling up their cars, heating their homes and putting food on the table.

Instead of providing Canadians with the relief they desperately need, Justin Trudeau is hiking his tax on gas and petrol in Newfoundland and Labrador. This week, as a direct consequence of the Trudeau Government, the price of gas will rise by 3.74 cents per litre and the price of diesel will increase by 4.17 cents. Nobody can afford this.

The Liberal Government is continuing to pour fuel on the cost of living crisis by doubling down on their punitive tax measures, even though Trudeau’s own Environment Commissioner revealed that Canada will not meet its climate targets. Last year, Newfoundland and Labrador Liberal MP Ken McDonald admitted that the carbon tax is hurting his constituents, saying “I think what we’re using right now at this point in time is putting a bigger burden on people who are now struggling with an affordability crisis … you can’t make it more expensive on people than what they can handle. And that’s exactly what’s happening right now.”

Newfoundland and Labrador Liberal MPs understand that this latest Trudeau carbon tax is the last thing the people of Newfoundland and Labrador need, but then decided to vote for it anyway. It’s clear the Liberal Government is more than happy to take more and more money out of Canadians’ pockets when they need it most.

Justin Trudeau is not worth the cost. Only common sense Conservatives will axe the tax on everything for everyone and will bring home lower prices for Canadians.
