FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Erin O’Toole, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives and the Official Opposition, issued the following statement on the first anniversary of the tragic shooting in Nova Scotia:

“One year ago today, 22 innocent lives were taken from us in an unspeakable attack. This horrendous act of violence continues to be a painful and dark moment for our country as a whole.

“On behalf of the Conservative Party of Canada, I offer my deepest condolences to the families, loved ones, friends, and neighbours who gather today to mourn this senseless tragedy.

“While Canadians from coast-to-coast grieve with Nova Scotia today, we will continue to make sure those we lost are never forgotten. Through the adversity that today brings, Nova Scotians will come together to support one another – showing again what Nova Scotia Strong means.

“My wife Rebecca, a proud Nova Scotian, and I will be joining Canadians across the country to observe a moment of silence today in memory of the lives that were taken from us too soon.”
