Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Erin O’Toole, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives and the Official Opposition, issued the following statement on holding the Trudeau government to account for their failures on the economy and the Afghanistan crisis:
“This week, Canada’s Conservatives will hold Justin Trudeau’s government to account for their failures on the economy and the Afghanistan crisis.
“While the holidays are quickly approaching, there is still no plan to tackle the many challenges facing our country. This is supposed to be a time to celebrate with family and friends. But Canadians are worried. Worried about rising costs. Worried about housing. Worried about what that means for their family.
“The Trudeau Liberals have left Canadians behind with their high-tax, high-debt agenda, and they have left people behind in Afghanistan who are at risk because they helped Canada.
“The Liberals had months to plan for US troops to pull out of Afghanistan. To plan for what that would mean for Canadians on the ground and the men and women who fought alongside Canada. Yet, the Liberal government has brought less than 10 per cent of the Afghan refugees to Canada they promised.
“That is why tomorrow, Conservatives are calling for the creation of a special committee to review the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban. And on Thursday, we will hold the Trudeau government to account for their failure to address the cost-of-living crisis pricing families out of homes.
“Canada’s Conservatives are here to be a voice for the millions of Canadians left behind in Justin Trudeau’s economy and to hold Justin Trudeau to account for his failures during the Afghanistan crisis.”
