OTTAWA, ON – Today, the Trudeau Liberals once again refused to be transparent with Canadians and blocked Conservative attempts at the Health Committee to get additional information about the government’s response to COVID-19.
“The Trudeau government continues to let Canadians down. More than 100,000 Canadians have gotten sick during this pandemic and thousands have tragically died. All Canadians deserve to know what information the government is using to make decisions,” said Conservative Shadow Minister for Heath Matt Jeneroux.
The motions, introduced by MP Jeneroux, requested the government publish the following documents by August 10, 2020:
- All communications regarding the emerging evidence that altered the government’s advice on wearing masks;
- All communications related to the issuances of Medical Device Establishment Licenses (MDELs);
- All communications related to the importation and sale of medical devices for use in relation to COVID-19.
- All documentation from the military report on long-term care homes in Ontario.
“The Liberals failed to be transparent with Canadians. All Canadians have made sacrifices over the last four months and deserve to know what was going on behind the scenes and why policy decisions that were confusing, and at times concerning, were made,” said MP Jeneroux, who represents the riding of Edmonton Riverbend.
“Given this government’s disappointing record on transparency, it is more vital than ever that the Liberals come clean with Canadians.”
